कांग्रेस सांसद शशि थरूर ने कहा, "मुझे नहीं लगता कि बीजेपी केरल में एक भी सीट जीतने जा रही है. उनका सबसे मजबूत प्रदर्शन हमेशा तिरुवनंतपुरम में रहा है जहां वे दो बार आए... मुझे लगता है कि हमारे राज्य में बीजेपी का जनाधार सीमित है. हिंदुत्व, हिंदी, हिंदू और हिंदुस्तान पर आधारित उनकी अपील यहां केरल में बहुत अच्छी तरह से नहीं पनपती है.''
