केरल हाई कोर्ट ने शुक्रवार को एक 15 वर्षीय लड़की को 7 महीने की गर्भावस्था को चिकित्सकीय रूप से समाप्त करने की अनुमति दी. पीडिता को उसके भाई ने गर्भवती किया था. मेडिकल बोर्ड द्वारा प्रस्तुत चिकित्सा रिपोर्ट पर विचार करने के बाद जस्टिस जियाद रहमान एए ने कहा कि यदि गर्भपात की अनुमति नहीं दी जाती है और बच्चे का जन्म होता है तो विभिन्न सामाजिक और चिकित्सीय जटिलताएं उत्पन्न होने की संभावना है.

कोर्ट ने कहा, 'बच्चा अपने ही भाई-बहन से पैदा हुआ है, इसलिए विभिन्न सामाजिक और चिकित्सीय जटिलताएं उत्पन्न होने की संभावना है. ऐसी परिस्थितियों में, याचिकाकर्ता की बेटी के गर्भपात की अनुमति दी गई है.'
