मौत की सजा के लिए फांसी की जगह दूसरे तरीके अपनाए जाने की मांग वाली याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट में मंगलवार को सुनवाई हुई. केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट को सूचित किया कि मृत्युदंड की सजा को कम दर्दनाक करने का वैकल्पिक तरीका खोजने के लिए वह एक विशेषज्ञ समिति नियुक्त करने पर विचार कर रही है.
