भारत-मालदीव विवाद पर एनसीपी सांसद फारूक अब्दुल्ला (Farooq Abdullah) ने कहा, "भारत ने हमेशा मालदीव की मदद की है... मुझे समझ नहीं आ रहा कि आज इस विवाद के पीछे क्या वजह है. क्या इसकी वजह भारत में हिंदू-मुसलमानों के बीच बढ़ रही नफरत है. चीन का प्रभाव न सिर्फ वहां बल्कि नेपाल, पाकिस्तान, बांग्लादेश में भी बढ़ रहा है...भारत बातचीत से मामले सुलझाने की कोशिश कर रहा है.''
