बता दें कि देश के इतिहास में सबसे लंबे समय तक 70 साल तक ताज के उत्तराधिकारी रहे 73 वर्षीय प्रिंस चार्ल्स ब्रिटिश सिंहासन पर आसीन हो गए हैं. उनकी मां महारानी एलिजाबेथ-द्वितीय (96) का निधन हो गया।. उन्होंने 1952 में गद्दी संभाली थी. उनसे पहले महारानी विक्टोरिया ने 63 साल का शासन किया था. विक्टोरिया 1901 तक महारानी रहीं.
