चिली: देश में भीषण गर्मी के बीच चिली के दर्जनों जंगलों में आग लगने से 13 लोगों की मौत हो गई, जबकि करीब 14,000 हेक्टेयर भूमि जलकर खाक हो गई. रॉयटर्स ने अधिकारियों के हवाले से यह जानकारी दी है. अगले कुछ दिनों में स्थितियां और भी जोखिमभरी हो सकती हैं. ब्राजील और अर्जेंटीना की मदद से 63 विमानों का बेड़ा आग बुझाने की मशक्कत में लगा है. राष्ट्रपति गैब्रिएल बोरिक ने शुक्रवार को अपनी छुट्टियों बीच में रोककर नुबल और बायोबियो का दौरा किया. इन दोनों क्षेत्रों की संयुक्त आबादी लगभग 20 लाख है.
राहत एवं बचाव अभियान के लिए भेजा गया एक हेलीकॉप्टर ला अराउकैनिया में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया, जिसमें एक पायलट और मैकेनिक की मौत हो गई. वनक्षेत्रों बायोबियो और नुबल में हर जगह तबाही का मंजर है, जिसके देखते हुए अतिरिक्त सैनिकों की तैनाती की गई है.
