उत्तराखंड का जोशीमठ शहर अब तक की सबसे बड़ी त्रासदी झेल रहा है. यहां दीवारें दरक रही हैं, जमीन धंस रही है, जमीन तोड़कर कहीं से भी पानी बह रहा है. इस शहर में कई लोग बेघर हो चुके हैं और अपने घरों को छोड़कर कहीं और रहने को मजबूर है.

घरों पर ऐसी दरारे पडीं हैं जिससे आर-पार दिख रहा है. सड़कों की हालात इतनी खराब है कि चलने में भी डर लगे. कई इमारते यहां टेढ़ी हो चुकी हैं. घरों के दरवाजों के नीचे गैप आ गया क्योंकि जमीन काफी हद तक अंदर धंस चुकी है. इस खूबसूरत शहर का भविष्य क्या होगा कोई अंदाजा नहीं लगा सकता है.
