एनआरसी यानी राष्ट्रीय नागरिक रजिस्टर बताता है कि कौन भारतीय नागरिक है और कौन नहीं. जिन लोगों के नाम एनआरसी में शामिल नहीं हैं, वह अवैध नागरिक कहलाए जाएंगे.
एनआरसी पर पूछे गए सवाल पर होम अफेयर्स मंत्री, नित्यानंद राय ने जवाब में कहा कि अब तक सरकार ने राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भारतीय नागरिकों के राष्ट्रीय रजिस्टर को तैयार करने का कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया है
