आंध्र प्रदेश के पीथापुरम से फिल्ममेकर रामगोपाल वर्मा चुनाव लड़ेंगे. इस सीट पर उनका मुकाबला जन सेना चीफ पवन कल्याण से होगा. फिल्म डायरेक्टर रामगोपाल वर्मा  ने अपने इस फैसले को अचानक लिया गया फैसला बताते हुए लिखा है, ''अचानक लिया गया फैसला..मुझे ये बताते हुए खुशी हो रही है कि मैं पीठापुरम से चुनाव लड़ रहा हूं.

जन सेना ने पीथापुरम सीट से पवन कल्याण की उम्मीदवारी की घोषणा की है. आंध्र प्रदेश में आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 और विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए NDA गठबंधन में सीटों का बंटवारा हो गया है. आंध्र प्रदेश में बीजेपी के साथ तेलुगु देशम पार्टी (TDP) प्रमुख एन चंद्रबाबू नायडू  और जनसेना पार्टी प्रमुख पवन कल्याण ने हाथ मिलाया है.
