असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंता बिस्वा सरमा (Himanta Biswa Sarma) ने एक कार्यक्रम के दौरान कहा कि अगले 5-6 महीनों में ऐसे हजारों लोगों (पतियों) को गिरफ्तार किया जाएगा. क्योंकि 14 साल से कम उम्र की लड़की के साथ यौन संबंध बनाना अपराध है, भले ही वह कानूनी रूप से पति ही क्यों न हो. सरमा ने कहा कि महिला की शादी की कानूनी उम्र 18 साल है और कम उम्र की लड़कियों से शादी करने वालों पर भी कार्रवाई की जाएगी.
असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंता बिस्वा सरमा ने इस दौरन मां बनने की सही उम्र बताई है. सरमा ने कहा कि महिलाओं को मां बनने की सही उम्र 22 साल से 30 साल के बीच की मां बन जाना चाहिए, यह सही उम्र है. क्योंकि ऐसा न होने पर कई सारे मेडिकल कॉम्प्लीकेशंस होते हैं. सरमा ने वहीं आगे कहा कि कम उम्र में शादी और मातृत्व को रोकने के लिए हमारी सरकार पूरी तरह से प्रतिबद्ध है.
