Bishan Singh Bedi Dies: पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान और दिग्गज स्पिनर बिशन सिंह बेदी का लंबी बीमारी के बाद 77 साल की उम्र में सोमवार को निधन हो गया, प्रसिद्ध स्पिनर ने 1967 और 1979 के बीच भारत के लिए 67 टेस्ट मैचों में 266 विकेट हासिल किए थे. दस एक दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय मैचों में सात विकेट भी लिए थे. इरापल्ली प्रसन्ना, बीएस चंद्रशेखर और एस वेंकटराघवन के साथ बेदी भारतीय स्पिन गेंदबाजी इतिहास में एक तरह की क्रांति के पीछे के मास्टरमाइंड थे. वनडे सीरीज में भारत की पहली जीत में उनकी अहम भूमिका थी. 1975 विश्व कप मुकाबले में उन्होंने 12-8-6-1 की खतरनाक गेंदबाजी करते हुए पूर्वी अफ्रीका को 120 रन पर रोक दिया था, जब रणजी ट्रॉफी की बात आई, तो बेदी दिल्ली के लिए एक स्तंभ थे, जिससे टीम को 1978-79 और 1980-81 में लगातार चैंपियनशिप जीतने में मदद मिली. इसके अलावा, बेदी काउंटी क्रिकेट में एक बहुत बड़ा सितारा बन गए, उन्होंने नॉर्थम्पटनशायर के लिए 102 प्रथम श्रेणी मैचों में भाग लिया और 1972 और 1977 के बीच 434 विकेट लिए थे. उनके देहांत पर पीएम मोदी, इरफ़ान पठान, गौतम गंभीर, मल्लिकार्जुन खड्गे, अरविंद केजरीवाल समेत कई दिग्गजों ने शोक जताया है.
