Calcutta HC Suggestion On Lioness Named Sita: कलकत्ता हाईकोर्ट में अकबर नाम के शेर को सीता नाम की शेरनी के साथ रखने वाले विवाद पर आज सुनवाई हुई. दलीलों को सुनने के बाद कोर्ट ने सिलीगुड़ी सफारी पार्क को सीता शेरनी का नाम बदलने का आदेश दिया है. कोर्ट ने कहा कि जानवरों का नाम श्रद्धेय शख्सियतों के नाम पर नहीं रखा जाना चाहिए. बता दें, पश्चिम बंगाल के सिलीगुड़ी सफारी पार्क में त्रिपुरा के सेपाहिजला जूलॉजिकल पार्क से शेर-शेरनी के जोड़े लाए गए थे. इनका नाम अकबर और सीता था. विश्व हिंदू परिषद (VHP) की बंगाल इकाई ने इन्हें साथ में रखने को हिंदू धर्म का अपमान बताया था. VHP ने इसके खिलाफ कलकत्ता हाइकोर्ट में याचिका दायर की थी और इनका नाम बदलने की मांग की थी.
