वहीं वैष्णव ने मीडिया से बातचीत में पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी के इस आरोप को भी खारिज कर दिया कि दुर्घटना को कवच (टक्कर रोधी) उपकरण से टाला जा सकता था. उन्होंने कहा, "इसका कवच से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है. बता दें कि उड़ीसा हादसे में 288 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 1000 से अधिक लोग घायल हुए हैं.
