आइसलैंड के रेक्जेंस प्रायद्वीप में बड़ा ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट हुआ है. इस विस्फोट से 2.5 मील तक दरारें फैल गई. ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट से इलाके में लावा और धुआं फैल गया है. ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट की यह घटना पिछले कई हफ्तों तक आई भूकंप की गतिविधियों के बाद हुई है. ज्वालामुखी से निकलनेवाला लावा दूर-दूर तक फैल रहा है. प्रति सेकंड लगभग 100 से 200 क्यूबिक मीटर (3,530 से 7,060 क्यूबिक फीट) लावा निकल रहा है.
