अमृतसर के जौड़ा फाटक के पास 19 अक्टूबर, शुक्रवार की शाम को एक बड़ा रेल हादसा हुआ है. जानकारी के मुताबिक, पठानकोट से अमृतसर की तरफ आ रही ट्रेन दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गई है. इस हादसे में अब तक 60 से भी ज्यादा लोगों के मरने की आशंका जताई जा रही है. ऐसे में स्थिति की गंभीरता को देखते हुए पंजाब सरकार ने शोक व्यक्त करते हुए एक दिन के लिए सभी सरकारी कार्यालयों को बंद रखने का आदेश दिया है. इस दुखद घड़ी में बॉलीवुड और टीवी इंडस्ट्री से जुड़े कई सारे सितारो ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म ट्विटर के माध्यम से शोक व्यक्त किया है.
अजय देवगन, अनिल कपूर, फरहान अख्तर, गौहर खान, सोनू सूद, डायना पेंटी, शत्रुघन सिंह, हितेन तेजवानी और आलिया भट्ट जैसे कलाकारों ने ट्विटर पर खेद व्यक्त करते हुए मृत लोगों के प्रति अपनी श्रद्धांजलि व्यक्त की है.

इस मामले पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कई सेलेब्स ने कहा कि इस घटना को टाला भी जा सकता था. वहीं दूसरी ओर पंजाब सरकार के मंत्री नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू का कहना है कि जब दुर्घटना होती है तो किसी को बताकर नहीं होती. लोग जो बात कर रहे हैं वह राजनीतिक बातें कर रहे हैं. राजनीतिक रोटियां नहीं सेंकनी चाहिए.'
